Lis Richard

Assistant Superintendent

When and why did you join the district?
I was privileged to join the district in July of 2021. I decided to join the district after living in the community for some time and watching the direction of our district. I wanted to partner and spend the time I have left working contributing to the success.

What is your experience? (Taken from her bio)
“Lis Richard is a passionate educator with a love for leading schools to excellence. With over 34 years in education, she has been in educational leadership for 18 years serving as administrator/principal and the last four years in the superintendency. Her tenure in administration has been one of wonderful success leading some top-performing schools. Her sixteen years in the classroom at various levels has helped to shape her leadership values. Twice she has received “Teacher of the Year” awards and is a recognized educational consultant and trainer in the Western United States. Mrs. Richard has earned two undergraduate degrees in education and theory of education. She holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is currently working toward a doctorate with a specialty in K-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment. She also has extensive leadership training apart from her degrees. She is now working on writing projects in the field of education.”

What is your favorite thing about our district and/or community?
People are always my favorite thing! I love building relationships and watching others succeed. Other than people, my husband and I are outdoor people and enjoy the entire area for motorcycle riding, four-wheeling, hiking, gardening, and more.

It is also wonderful to be part of the district where my dad graduated in the 60’s, my aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews also graduated from MCHS.

Who was your favorite K-12 teacher and why?
It is difficult to narrow it to one teacher. I had the privilege of having so many great teachers who shaped my love for education. I also attended middle and high school abroad, so I had wonderful experiences in an excellent foreign school. If I had to choose one, it would be Ms. Neighbors. She was my American Government teacher. She believed in me and really instilled an understanding for what it takes to reach a goal. She not only said things like, “You can do whatever you set out to achieve,” but; she helped to lead me in a direction. To this day, we are still in contact!
