Principal's Corner

Parent or GuardianOctober 10, 2019

Dear M-CMS Community,

Fall in Colorado is beautiful!  It is my favorite season. Football games, fall foods, and fall foliage in my favorite colors catch my attention.  It’s a nice time in the school year because we have established our routines and schedules, and teachers and students are able to engage in meaningful learning.

M-CMS has made great progress the last two years.  To summarize, administrators and faculty members have worked diligently toward achieving the M-CMS Mission, “Building a Bridge from Foundation to Future”. We have rebranded M-CMS and are now unified with the high school as Panthers, reduced faculty turnover, academically have taken M-CMS from Priority Improvement (Turn Around) 39.6% to Improvement 47.7% in the CDE School Performance Framework, and established a strong student leadership programs with 8th Grade Ambassadors and Sources of Strength.

We really believe that it takes a strong partnership with families and the school to educate a middle school child with the fundamental academic skills and citizenship skills in order for them to be successful in high school and beyond.  This is the M-CMS mission “Building a Bridge from Foundation to Future.”   Every skill, every lesson, every interaction that teachers and students engage in are important to the foundation and growth of learning. Each year as the content levels and the expectations increase, teachers continue to challenge students and set even higher learning goals.  I am proud of the hard work and determination that teachers and students exhibit every day.

I hope you took advantage of the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher at Parent Teacher conferences.  As always, if you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to contact either their teacher or me.

I would like to invite you to join our joint PTO/Accountability meeting on October 15th at 5:15p.m. in the library.    For your future planning, the IPP meeting is October 22, The District Accountability Meeting is November 4th, and on November 19th the School Board will be meeting at M-CMS in the library at 7:00pm.  Thank you for your continued support and partnership! Every day I am thankful and blessed to be a part of this wonderful community of learners.

Take care,

Kate Ott, M-CMS Principal
