Following are food assistance programs in our area, some of which are offering extended hours and/or sack lunches during this COVID-19 emergency. Food banks, soup kitchens, and commodities are free. Please note where applications and/or eligibility are required.

 

CORTEZ

Good Samaritan Center food pantry: 30 N Beech St, Cortez, CO 81321

Hours: Monday thru Thursday from Noon – 2pm and Thursday evening from 5-7pm for curbside food box pickups. (970) 565-6424

Right now the food pantry can offer a box once per month, but with additional funding we are hoping to increase the frequency, so folks should check back soon for updates. Curbside pick up only.

Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon – 1:00 pm, Saturdays from noon - 12:30.

(Meals are take-out only, at south door of building on North Street; meals can be brought to ground level; no bathrooms or public space available at this time.)

Montezuma County Senior Center

All senior meals in Cortez, Dolores, and Mancos are now by delivery only. There will be no dine-in or pick-up options. Your meal will be left at your door so that you do not have contact with the delivery driver. Supplemental 7 day food packages are also available for those who need them. Packages will be delivered once a week and will contain a combination of frozen, shelf-stable, and fresh foods. Church of the Nazarene – Has small food pantry, can deliver. Call Pastor Ian (970) 565-7826.

 

Denny’s – 2 free kids/teen meals with purchase of adult meal. If ordering online use promo code KIDSFREE. dennys.com/promos/ Mobile app available. Available to everyone 7 days a week. Denny’s will deliver to the elderly  (970) 564-0832.

 

Burger King – 2 Free kids meals with purchase of one adult meal. Download BK App and show coupon.

 

Montezuma County RE-1 School District - Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1    Starting March 30, 2020. All meals will be free to any child 18 and under. You must compete the survey each week by Wednesday to receive meals for the following week. The survey can be found on the website above, or by clicking here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q5P3PQH

Meals will be ready for pickup at Cortez Middle School from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Times and location could change due to demand.

Dolores Family Project Food Pantry

Open to all SW Colorado Residents; Hours: 11am - 3rd Tuesday of the month - bring your own basket or bags/no application (Canceled until further notice)

 

Ute Mountain WIC - Application is required.

DOVE CREEK

Providing lunch to any Dolores County Senior (60+) Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 12:00pm. Curbside pickup or delivery, you must call by 9:00am each day to participate. Call 970-677-2787 to reserve your lunch!

ROCK - Reaching Out to Community and Kids located at 128 E. Hwy 491 Dove Creek, CO. 81324. ROCK will be doing drive- through distributions with a tentative start date of April 3rd. How often they occur and what they include will be contingent on funding and donations. We ask folks to watch our Facebook page to keep updated: ROCK-Reaching Out to Community and Kids, and our website is dovecreekrocks.com.

Dove Creek Care and Share Food Pantry Inc - Emergency food bank and pantry serving all residents of Dolores County and Egnar, Colorado regardless of situation. We also provide once-per-month distribution of USDA's TEFAP for those who qualify. Dolores County Dept. of Human Services - office hours will be Monday- Thursday 8:30 to 4:30 P.M. Families affected by COVID-19 either via loss of job or reduction in hours can apply for benefits. We encourage individuals to apply for benefits online. If anyone has questions, they can call our main office number at 970-677-2250

Senior shopping hours - City Market and Smiths: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 7-8 am.  Safeway/Albertsons: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-9 am. Walmart: every Tuesday, 6-7 am.
