Disctrict Accountability Committee Meeting Monday

Disctrict Accountability Committee Meeting Monday article

Good morning parents, guardians, and community members,

On November 4th at the Administration Office (400 N Elm St, Cortez, CO 81321) from 5pm - 6pm, the District Accountability Committee will be meeting to discuss the following agenda items:
•    Orientation on charter renewal criteria
•    Short presentation of district annual progress reports/strategic plan
•    Discuss district family engagement policy and strategies and solicit input
•    Discuss qualities of a successful graduate and how we can support our students in high school

This committee is a great way for parents to express their ideas and concerns to the school board and district leadership. It is also a great way for the community to be directly involved in the educational environment of our students. District Accountability Committees (DACs) are responsible for:

1.    making recommendations to the school board concerning budget priorities,
2.    making recommendations concerning the preparation of the district Performance, Improvement, Priority Improvement, or Turnaround plan (whichever is applicable),
3.    providing input and recommendations to principals, on an advisory basis, concerning the development and use of assessment tools to measure and evaluate student academic growth as it relates to teacher evaluations, and
4.    cooperatively determining other areas and issues to address and make recommendations
5.    provide input on charter school applications and renewal applications

DACs also are expected to publicize opportunities to serve on District and School Accountability Committees and solicit families to do so, assist the district in implementing its family engagement policy, and assist school personnel in increasing family engagement with educators.

We hope to see you out!
