MCMS Kicks Off PTO Parent and Kids Pizza Night article

MCMS Kicks Off PTO PARENT & KIDS PIZZA NIGHT

WHO: Students and Parents or Parent Figures of M-CMS

WHAT: A Parents and Kids’ Pizza Night celebration to launch a family and community engagement program called PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization). The PTO Program was created to bring parents and teachers together to help build better schools for our children.

WHEN: Tuesday, February 25th @ 5:30

WHERE: M-CMS, 450 W. 2ND, CORTEZ

WHY: Studies by the U.S. Department of Education have demonstrated that a positive adult role model will have a uniquely positive impact on the development and educational success of a child, dramatically increasing the child’s likelihood of graduating and being academically successful along the way. While at the same time parent involvement will dramatically decrease the likelihood of that child living in poverty, getting involved with drugs and alcohol, and avoiding potentially devastating choices that result in a criminal record or a teen pregnancy.

As a parent are you interested and want to learn more about –
• Your child’s academic opportunities including: Gifted and Talented, Homework, Tutoring and other Academic Interventions?
• The impacts of Social Media on Bullying at School?
• Understanding PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and how it works at M-CMS?
• The adolescent brain and how to help your child build healthy relationships and have a secure self-esteem?
• How to use Power School effectively?
• Eligibility standards for student athletes and field trip opportunities?
• Meeting our new faculty: Shannon Slinkey Social Worker, Morgan Nichols Behavioral Specialist, Sally Monahan 6th Grade ELA, and Devin Wills 7th Grade Social Studies?
• Fund Raising for Playground Equipment at recess?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, join us at the PTO PARENT & KIDS PIZZA NIGHT!

PTO Participation Benefits:
Every school year PTO Parents have a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of thousands of kids. When parents invest one evening a month for the school, they can learn how better to partner with the school to meet the educational and emotional goals of students.
