Montezuma-Cortez School District Family Engagement Events

Below please find the dates and times for two upcoming fairs this school year and some brief thoughts regarding the purpose and plans. We are excited to build these events because we know it takes a village to help every child succeed and to open more doors for possibilities. If you have any questions, thoughts, or would like to be part of a planning committee, please reach out to Lisa Megel at (970) 565-7282 ext 1118, or email: lmegel@cortez.k12.co.us.

November 7, 2025 4:00-7:00 - Fall Family Fair

Theme

  • Mental Health Awareness: Things to Do to Fight the Blues Activities/ Opportunities

  • Multicultural Foods

  • Multicultural Dances/Entertainment - Family Engagement

  • Take home activities available from each vendor table

  • District Hiring Event

  • Adult Education Opportunities

  • Holiday Programs and Activities Information

As families prepare for the holidays and when students don’t have school, we want to provide several activities that students can do independently or with family and friends during the break. It can be a swag item, an activities page, a craft kit, etc.  The idea is to encourage family activities and to make sure kids have fun things to do. (Some families have limited funds, especially around the holidays. This is a little way to help fend off the holiday blues)

April 17, 2026 4:00-7:00 - Spring Family Fair

Theme

  • Summer Adventure:  Through Reading and Activities

Activities/Opportunities

  • Promote local youth activities/clubs

  • Youth job opportunities

  • Adult Education Opportunities

  • District Hiring Event

  • International games and crafts

  • Story Tellers

As summer approaches, families will have the opportunity to learn about upcoming events for youth and have a place to get them signed up or gather information.  We want to encourage getting outdoors, safety, connecting with family, friends and making new friends.  How can we encourage reading over the summer? This will be a target as we plan for the event.
