The Montezuma-Cortez School District in the County of Montezuma, State of Colorado, calls for nomination of candidates for school directors to be placed on the ballot for the regular biennial school election to be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
At this election 2 directors will be elected in Districts A and G for 2 year terms and four directors will be elected for 4 year terms in districts B, D, E, and F. To be qualified, a candidate must be a registered elector of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election and a resident of the director district which will be represented. A person is ineligible to run for school director if he or she has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child.
A person who desires to be a candidate for school director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition signed by at least 50 eligible electors who are registered to vote in the regular biennial school election.
Nomination petitions may be obtained at MCSD Administration Office, at 400 N. Elm Street, Cortez, CO 81321, in the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and School Board . Office hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM., closed 12:00-1:00 PM. Completed petitions shall be submitted to the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and School Board no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021.
