Jeanette Allen

When and why did you join the district?  
I joined the Montezuma-Cortez School District in 2013.  I was interested in leadership opportunities in curriculum and instruction, and when this opportunity opened, I was eager to be a part of the great work happening in Cortez. 

What is your experience?
I have 34 years in K-12 education as a teacher, principal and director of curriculum. I have taught in Arizona and Colorado mostly in elementary and middle schools although I have worked in a high school as well. I have a master's degree in reading and learning disabilities and a principal endorsement. I have been a k-12 principal in a small rural school district for 6 years.

What is your favorite thing about our district and/or community?
I love the Cortez community.  People are genuinely friendly and helpful. In addition, the school staff work very hard for the students in our district. 

Who was your favorite K-12 teacher and why
I will always remember my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Jackson.  She was very kind and compassionate.  She fostered by desire to be a teacher, and it has been a very rewarding journey.
